From the Counselling Department

Didn’t Take A School Photo or Re-take?

If any student in grades 9-11 missed both the original school photo day in September and the re-take day and therefore has no school photo, his name will not be included in the school yearbook unless he informs Ms Kolton.  Students in grade 12 need to have a graduation photo to be included.  It does not matter if you purchased photos; the student just needs to have sat for a photo.

University Planning - U of M

Grade 12 students who did not attend the in-person or online U of M first year planning sessions may be interested in starting that process now.

Grade 12 students wanting more information about their first year at the University of Manitoba can check out videos or make in-person appointments with the First Year Centre:  First Year Planning.  Counsellors at the Centre can help with general questions, course selection, scheduling, parking and more.

The First Year Planning Guide is also a great resource.

Counselling at University:  Students can access personal/social counselling free of charge on the U of M campus.  There are sometimes waiting lists so it may be wise to call now to begin the process if students feel they would like support in the fall.

Learning Disabilities Support:  The Learning Disability Services Clinic provides assessments for learning disabilities related to reading, writing, and math as well as attention related problems to University of Manitoba students.  The waiting list is lengthy.

Accommodations:  Testing accommodations, classroom accommodations, physical accommodations, media accommodations, assistive technology accommodations, and access to support staff is available.  Appointments can be now.  If a student currently has an accommodation at St. Paul’s, he must provide the proper documentation to the university for it to continue.  The office also deals with new accommodation needs.
