Mission Week 1: Support Sabu’s Cubs with the Maroon & White Society!

The Maroon & White Society has chosen Sabu’s Cubs as our Mission Week 1 charity, and we are inviting students, parents, and staff to get involved in a variety of ways.

About Sabu’s Cubs:
Sabu’s Cubs is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowerment, equality, and inclusion. They create safe spaces and positive change in the Point Douglas area through community walks, neighbourhood cleanups, athletic events, mentorship, and family meals.

Volunteer with Sabu’s Cubs — Community Walks

The Maroon & White are inviting students, parents, and staff to participate in one of Sabu’s Cubs’ upcoming community walks. This is a great opportunity for everyone, especially students looking to earn Ignatian Service hours.

Gonzaga Middle School — 174 Maple St N
Every Wednesday, 5:45 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Volunteer Dates:

  • November 26

  • December 10
  • December 17

Hamper Drive — Donations Needed

We are also hosting a hamper drive in support of Sabu’s Cubs. As Winnipeg enters another freezing winter, many families lack the essentials they need to stay warm and supported.

We are collecting new items including socks (especially children’s and women’s sizes), mitts and gloves, kids’ clothing, kids’ toys, snacks, hygiene supplies, juice boxes, and sidewalk chalk. These donations make a meaningful impact on families receiving aid through Sabu’s Cubs and help spread holiday cheer throughout the winter season.

 Drop-off:

  • 8:00–8:30 a.m. — Outside the Cass Gym
  • After 8:30 — Donations continue in the library

Mission Week Pizza Lunch (Friday, November 28)

Students can also support Sabu’s Cubs by taking part in our Mission Week Pizza Lunch. A medium pizza and drink will be available for $13 (cash) or $13.25 (card). To participate, students must submit their order through the Microsoft Form linked by QR codes on the school TV screens and then pay at the Maroon & White booth across from the library during lunch between November 19 and November 26. All orders and payments are due by Wednesday, November 26, and unpaid or late orders will not be accepted. Pizza will be ready for pickup in the Cass Gym at lunch on Friday, November 28.

$2 Dress Code Days — Nov 24–28

We will be holding $2 dress code days from Monday, November 24 to Friday, November 28. Students may wear casual clothing during the week by making a $2 donation to Sabu's Cubs. Dress code stickers will be available for purchase at both the Student Link and the Student Entrance.
