Dress Code 2 Begins Monday, April 28, 2025

As we transition into warmer weather, we will be moving to Dress Code II starting Monday, April 28, 2025.

Dress Code II maintains the expectations of Dress Code I, with the following optional changes for students:

Option 1:

  • Regular dress code without the blazer/jacket.

  • Dress shirt, dress pants, dress shoes, belt, and socks.

Option 2:

  • St. Paul’s golf shirt, tucked in, dress shorts (beige, navy, or black; cut just above the knee with belt loops, zipper, and pockets—two front and two back).

  • A belt and visible socks are required.

  • Athletic shoes in good condition.

  • Golf shirts must be purchased from the Crusader Shoppe or issued by a school team/club.

Option 3:

  • St. Paul’s golf shirt, tucked in, with dress pants (no jacket required).

  • Same shirt requirements as Option 2.

Additional Notes:

  • No mixing and matching between options. Each option must be worn as a complete set.

  • A St. Paul’s branded, non-hooded sweater may be worn in place of a polo shirt.

 

Monday, 28 April: Bing Crosby Speech Contest and Paul Herriot Spelling Bee

We will follow a modified schedule to accommodate the Bing Crosby Speech Competition and Paul Herriot Spelling Bee.  

  • Period 1:  8:30–9:15 a.m.
  • Period 2:  9:20–10:20 a.m.
  • Period 3:  10:25–11:10 a.m.
  • Period 4:  11:15 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
  • Lunch:  12:00–12:45 p.m.

12:50 p.m.: Grade 9, 10, and 11 students report to their core group stations for attendance. 
Bing Crosby Speech Contest and Paul Herriot Spelling Bee:  1:00–3:15 p.m.

Notes:

  • There are no period 5 classes on this day.
  • Grade 12 students are not required to attend the speech contest and spelling bee. 

Wednesday, 30 April: Late Start for Students

Schedule IV is in effect. 

Thursday, 1 May: Student Council Election Assembly

Thursday, 1 May kicks off the election process for next year's Student Council. We will follow Schedule III and will have an assembly to allow the President and Vice-President Candidates to introduce themselves and their platforms. The Opening Election Assembly is compulsory for grade 9–11 students. Grade 12 students who wish to vote must attend the assembly. Good luck to all of the teams well on their election campaigns!

Friday, 2 May: Grade 12 Mother-Son Celebration and Grade 9 Men for Others Day

Grade 12 students and their mothers will participate in the Mother-Son Celebration in the MultiPlex at 8:00 a.m. Please refer to previous school communications for further details and contact Ms. Kate Brito with any questions. 

Grade 9 Students will participate in the Men for Others Day faciliated by Campus Ministry. Please refer to previous school communications for further details and contact Mr. Christian Martinez with any questions.

  • Performances on: May 8, 9, 10
  • Curtain at: 7:30 pm

Tickets for these two episodes can only be purchased online; please click on preferred links below.  (St. Paul’s students are entitled to one free non-transferable ticket. They simply scan the QR code from the hallway monitors to request their free ticket.)

Job Opportunity: Grade 11 & 12 Choral Enthusiasts

United Church in Meadowood is offering a part-time position for a graduating student who is entering the Faculty of Music, or a current grade 11 student who intends to enter the faculty the following year. The job requires attending weekly choir rehearsals as well as attendance at Sunday mass. Students should check their Teams messages for further details.

Online Summer School

A reminder that registration for online summer school opens Thursday, May 1st.

Summer Opportunities at UBC

Indigenous Student Internship is open for applicants. Indigenous youth in grades 11–12 are encouraged to apply to this paid internship program. They will be paired with university student mentors and gain valuable work experience. The registration deadline is April 27th.

UBC Summer Science is a one-week program for Indigenous high school students to experience university first-hand and engage in health science, Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), and cultural activities. The Summer Science Program is a great opportunity to meet new friends, eat great food, connect with Elders/role models while enjoying fun, laughter and learning.

  • Grades 11 & 12 attend from August 3rd–9th, 2025
  • Grades 9 & 10 attend from August 10th–16th, 2025

Future Global Leaders Program

High school students can try out a university subject before applying to university in the Future Global Leaders Program. 

Students can enjoy the full university experience by attending Future Global Leaders at the UBC Vancouver campus (where students can choose between staying in a student residence or commuting daily to campus), or study at home with online courses.  

Scholarship Featured This Week:

$3,000 scholarship for students going into trades: Horatio Alger Scholarship for Trades

Eligibility:  Completed high school by July 1, 2025

Enrolled in a vocational, technical, or trade program for Fall 2025

Household income under $65,000

Canadian citizenship

Application due: June 15th, 2025

Reminder: University of Manitoba’s Preparing for University Session

Grade 12 students attending the University of Manitoba in the fall may consider attending their in-person Preparing for University session.  

This is intended to teach students everything they need to know ahead of starting classes in the fall. Students can attend presentations, campus tours, and connect with representatives from their program and across the UM community.

The Grad Committee is busy preparing for the Class of 2025’s upcoming celebration, including the Grad Dinner and Safe Grad event on Friday, June 20. One highlight of the evening will be a “Casino Royale” raffle, and families are invited to support the fun by contributing to the prize table. Nearly New – Thanks You!

Thanks so much to everyone who donated items and made purchases to assist the Christmas Hamper Program at the Nearly New Sale that took place on Thursday, April 24. We are grateful for your support!

The next Nearly New sale will be held for new students entering St. Paul’s, taking place on May 13, 2025. We once again will be collecting gently used items. Items for the Nearly New sale need to be cleaned and labeled Nearly New and can be dropped off at the Front Office by Friday, May 9, 2025..

We are collecting gently used Suits, blazers, Dress pants, Dress shirts, School uniform polo shirts, School sweatshirts and t-shirts, shoes, belts, and ties to sell at our pop-up shoppe on the evening of May 13, 2025, for new students entering St. Paul’s.

All proceeds support our Christmas Hamper Fund!

St. Mary’s Academy Celebrates the 50th Anniversary of International Day

St. Paul’s Community Welcome

First held in 1975, International Day was created by the SMA Parents’ Guild (then called the Mothers’ Guild) to bring the community together in celebration of the rich cultural diversity of our families. Fifty years later, the event remains a cherished tradition that is filled with the vibrancy of many wonderful cultures, and continues to offer a meaningful opportunity to build community.

As partners in Catholic education, we are pleased to invite the students, families, staff and alumni of St. Paul’s High School to join us for this milestone celebration.
