The St. Paul's High School Student Council is excited to be hosting our first Spirit Week of the year next week (Monday, Oct. 28 – Friday, Nov. 1). Please find below more information regarding free dress code days and lunch time activities below or on the Student Life Instagram (sphs.studentlife).
Monday, Oct. 28
Free Dress Code: PAJAMA DAY – relax at school in a cozy onesie, don some slippers and a robe or bring a pillow. Pajamas must be clearly pajamas, simply wearing sweatpants and slides will not cut it.
Lunch Activity: MAN HUNT – 81 students (3/core group) will face-off against Student Council in a giant game of Man Hunt with the last one standing winning donuts for their core group class!
Tuesday, Oct. 29
Free Dress Code: COUNTRY VS. COUNTRY CLUB – a battle of ‘countries’… think cowboy boots, jeans, plaid or cowboy hats vs. tennis outfits, collared shirts, and khaki shorts.
Lunch Activity: Super Smash Bros. Tournament – the first 32 participants signed up will compete in a video game tournament in the MP at lunch. Games will be played on Nintendo Switch and the winner will receive a $20 Best Buy gift card! FORM:
Wednesday, Oct. 30
Free Dress Code: TIK-TOKers VS. WALKERS – Students will dress up as senior citizens (grey wigs, cardigans, canes, walkers, etc.) while staff dress up as teenagers (ripped jeans, sneakers, backpacks, airpods, etc.).
Lunch Activity: Pumpkin Carving – each core group will sign up 2 students to carve a pumpkin in the cafeteria at lunch. A panel of teachers will judge based on precision, likeness, and creativity with the winning team receiving a core group food prize!
Thursday, Oct. 31
Free Dress Code: HALLOWEEN COSTUMES - Students and staff are invited to dress up in their Halloween costumes! Students and staff can wear any type of Halloween costume that is school appropriate.
Lunch Activity: COSTUME CONTEST – the traditional SPHS costume contest will take place at lunch in the Cafeteria. Students who would like to participate are able to sign up in the morning at the dress code booth, having the opportunity to pick a ‘walk-out song’ for their contest entrance, or decide to participate at lunch. Student Council will host the contest, using the SPHS.StudentLife Instagram to allow students and staff to vote!
Friday, Nov. 1
Free Dress Code: CHRISTMAS CHAOS – with the end of Halloween comes the beginning of Christmas. Get into the spirit by wearing an ugly Christmas sweater, a Santa hat, reindeer antlers, Santa costume, etc.
Lunch Activity: DODGEBALL GAMES – 1 person from each core group will compete in grade-level dodgeball games (9 v. 10, 11 v. 12) with a final match between Student Council and Teachers.

If your son missed the original photo day AND missed photo retakes this week, he must contact Ms Kolton about submitting a photo for use in the school yearbook. Student names are attached to the school photos, so failure to have a photo taken may result in the student not appearing in name or image in the yearbook.
The Leader of Tomorrow Scholarship is a $16,000 scholarship for students with a 90% average in particular courses in grade 11, accomplishments in leadership, communication and special abilities; as well as community involvement. Students on the Gold Honour Roll last year were sent information on Teams this week. Applications are due Dec. 1st.
The TD Scholarship for Community Leadership is due Nov. 13th, 1 pm EST
The Queen's University Chancellor's Scholarship is due to Ms Kolton by noon on November 15th to be considered for school sponsorship.
Students in grades 10–12 will participate in Career Day on Wednesday, Nov. 6th. Fifty guest speakers will be visiting the school to give presentations to grade 11 and 12 students. This is an excellent opportunity for students to explore various career ideas and to ask questions of people in the field. Please check out the list of presenters if you are interested viewing the presentation topics and schedule. Students in grade 10 will use various career exploration tools to start thinking about their aptitudes and interests as well as doing a mental health check-in with members of the counselling department. There are no regular classes for any students on this day.
Take Our Kids to Work invites students in Grade 9 to explore careers and employment by spending time in the workplace of a parent, caregiver or sponsor. This Government of Manitoba event supports career development education and future readiness.

There are no regular class at St. Paul’s on this day. We are hoping for 100% participation, but any students who do not attend will be expected to attend a full-day study hall at the school.

The Environmental Action Committee (EAC) will host our 3rd Annual Pumpkin Smash on November 4th.

We’re inviting everyone to bring their old pumpkins, squashes, or gourds on Friday, November 1st and Monday, November 4th. They’ll be collected in the student entrance link.
Note: Please make sure any stickers, candles, or decorations have been removed from the pumpkins.
