Tuesday, 21 November: Crusader Cash Raffle Sales Close

The Crusader Cash Raffle – LAST CALL FOR TICKETS!

Ticket sales in the Crusader Raffle will close on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at midnight, and the draw will take place on Thursday, November 23, 2023.

$20,000 in cash prizes are to be won including:

Six cash prizes include:

  • 1st prize - $10,000
  • 2nd prize - $5,000
  • 3rd prize - $2,000
  • 4th prize - $1,000
  • 5th prize - $1,000
  • 6th prize - $1,000

Students are asked to sell a minimum of $200 worth of tickets in support of the Bursary and Grad Fund.

A list of the top student sellers can be found on the Rafflebox home page under the “Top Fundraisers” tab. The top 3 student sellers will win:

  • 1st place – $300 Amazon Gift Card
  • 2nd place – $200 Apple Gift Card
  • 3rd place – $100 Cru Shoppe Gift Card

Tuesday, 21 November:  Grade 11 Bake Sale 

The bake sale takes place during the lunch hour in the cafeteria.   

Bake Sale prices are 50 cents per item or three items for $1.

All the profits support the SPHS Christmas Hamper Fund

Grade 11 Parents
We are asking for homemade or bakery bought goodies from our grade 11 parents for the bake sale on Tuesday, November 21st.   Please have the boys drop off baking at front reception in the morning of Tuesday, November 21st 

Wednesday, 22 November: Late Start for Students

Schedule IV is in effect. 

Thursday, 23 November: All-School Assembly

Students will go to the MultiPlex after period 5 for the launch of Mission Week 1 and to hear the results of the Crusader Raffle draw. Attendance is compulsory for all students. Schedule III is in effect. 

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-teacher conferences will occur on:
• Thursday, 23 November, 3:30–8:00PM
• Friday, 24 November, 9:30AM–3:30PM

The online system for booking conferences will open on Monday, 13 November at 7:30AM and will close at 5:00PM on Wednesday, 22 November.

Log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal to access Conference Manager, the online booking system.

Nearly New Pop-Up Store/Cru Shoppe 

OPEN Thursday during Parent-Teacher Conferences

Be sure to visit the Nearly New Pop-Up Store and the St Paul’s Crusader Shoppe in the Cafeteria Area during Parent-Teacher Conferences between 3:00-8:00pm.

When you visit the Nearly New Sale, you can also enter your name to win fabulous prizes, such as Cirque du Soleil tickets, Mondetta clothing package and more. A friendly reminder that only cash or cheque payments and donations will be accepted.

All profits will help support this year’s Christmas hamper fund. The Parent Guild Hospitality Table with baking and refreshments will also be in this area so be sure to head down.

Friday, November 17th - MPI's 'Friends for Life' Presentation

On Friday, Nov. 17th, as part of MPI’s ‘Friends for Life’ campaign, Cara Filler spoke to the school. She shared her very personal story of the horrible impact that unsafe driving habits can have. In addition she spoke about dealing with peer pressure and making positive choices with the goal of helping all in attendance make smart choices when behind the wheel or getting into a car. Thank you to MPI for offering us the opportunity to hear from Cara Filler today.

 

Scholarships

This week we are featuring the following scholarships:

The Theil Fellowship:  The Thiel Fellowship is a two-year, $100,000 grant for young people who want to build new things rather than attend university.  You cannot be a university student and receive the fellowship.  There is no application date and proposals are reviewed as they are received.

Science Without Borders Scholarship Challenge:  The Science Without Borders® Challenge is an international contest that engages students in ocean conservation through art. 

Application Deadline:  March 4th

U of M Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship: due Dec. 1st

UBC Presidential Scholars Award: due Dec. 1st

 

SHAD Applications Open Until December 1st

Current Grade 10 or 11 students who are interested in future careers in science, technology and entrepreneurship are encouraged to consider applying to the SHAD program. Please see the information below, visit www.shad.ca or contact Mr. Cook for more details. Financial assistance and scholarships are available through SHAD and applications are due by December 1st.
